At least seven members of the Fatemiyoun and one gunman were killed in clashes at a school used as a militia base in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province on Monday, the Jerusalem Post reported on 3 November, citing the Haalvsh human rights monitor. The Jerusalem Post described Fatemiyoun as an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-funded and trained Shi’ite militia composed primarily of Afghans.
Two motorcycles, a school, a militia
Unknown gunmen attacked the base at Sofla School in the village of Bir, Kahiri district of Konarak County, Haalvsh reported. Sources told the monitor that two armed motorcyclists entered the village at 4 p.m. Monday and opened fire on Fatemiyoun forces stationed at the school. Besides the seven or more Fatemiyoun dead, several people were said to have been critically wounded and removed by ambulance. One attacking gunman was killed.
Haalvsh did not name the gunmen. IRGC-owned Tasnim News Agency said they were affiliated with Jaish al-Adl, a Baloch nationalist militant organization operating across the Iran–Pakistan border. Tasnim did not report Fatemiyoun deaths. It mentioned a wounded gunman who, it claimed, had tried to attack “army personnel.” The school-as-base is Haalvsh’s description of how the IRGC’s Afghan militia was sitting in Bir: a classroom site converted into a fighting position, then shot up by two men on motorcycles.
Monday in Bir is that raid. Fatemiyoun, an IRGC proxy, bled at a school it used as a base. Tasnim pinned Jaish al-Adl and minimized the dead. Haalvsh counted at least seven militiamen and one gunman. The Jerusalem Post carried both accounts of the same clash.
