Post Types & Terminology
Spark Activist is a platform built for strategic, pro-Israel activism. Whether you're boosting content, reporting disinformation, or initiating a discussion, each post type in Spark is designed to help activists organize, mobilize, and amplify their voice.
When creating a new action in the Spark app, you’ll be prompted to select a post type. There are two main categories:
1. General Action: Discussion
Use case: Open conversation or information-sharing.
Description:
This is the only general action currently available. The Discussion post type allows users to start a conversation around a specific topic, ask questions, or share insights relevant to pro-Israel activism. It’s ideal for community building and engagement around current events, strategies, or news.
2. Action-Oriented Post Types
These actions are designed for mobilizing support, applying pressure, or influencing public opinion. Each one serves a tactical function in advancing pro-Israel advocacy online.
Boost Post
Purpose: Drive visibility and engagement for important content.
Usage in Spark:
Create this action when you want other users to engage with a specific piece of content—typically on platforms like Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. Participants are expected to like, comment, share, or repost to help the content “break through” and gain algorithmic traction.
Follow Account
Purpose: Build community and strengthen the pro-Israel network.
Usage in Spark:
Use this when there's an account—such as a journalist, influencer, advocacy org, or Israeli official—that should be followed and amplified. Following builds reach and credibility for trusted voices.
Purpose: Counter hate, antisemitism, or misinformation online.
Usage in Spark:
When you encounter a harmful post (e.g. antisemitic content, terrorism support, disinformation), use this action to direct users to report it on the original platform (e.g. Instagram, TikTok). This is the inverse of a Boost Post.
Report Account
Purpose: De-platform harmful or inciting users.
Usage in Spark:
Target entire accounts spreading hate, threats, or coordinated propaganda. Reporting helps weaken hostile narratives and maintain safe spaces for activism.
Sign Petition
Purpose: Demonstrate collective support for a cause.
Usage in Spark:
When advocacy campaigns require public pressure—on governments, institutions, or media—create a petition and use this action type to drive signatures.
Send Email
Purpose: Apply pressure directly to decision-makers.
Usage in Spark:
Pre-fill or guide users to email university officials, journalists, public figures, or lawmakers. These emails often call out antisemitism, demand accountability, or defend Israel’s right to exist and protect its citizens.
Take Action
Purpose: Mobilize beyond digital platforms.
Usage in Spark:
This is a broad, flexible action used to call users to attend events, post original content, join mass hashtag campaigns, or complete coordinated tasks. It's a versatile tool for any offline or online advocacy step.
Admins can create custom post types tied to specific campaigns. These may include tailored messaging or action steps depending on the campaign’s goal.
For example: A university-focused campaign might include a custom action like “Tag the Dean” or “Post Your Testimony.”
