# Israeli actors and filmmakers in Hollywood

*Gal Gadot became an international film star through Wonder Woman, while Shira Haas earned US television recognition for Unorthodox and joined major American productions.*

Israeli performers and filmmakers have built careers in American film and television through leading roles, awards and production work. Gal Gadot became widely known to US audiences as Wonder Woman; Shira Haas earned international attention for Netflix’s *Unorthodox* and moved into major American productions.

## Gal Gadot’s Hollywood roles

Gadot, born in Petah Tikva, played Gisele Yashar in the *Fast & Furious* films before taking the lead in *Wonder Woman* (2017). The Hollywood Walk of Fame’s [official biography](https://www.walkoffame.com/gal-gadot/) records her star, awarded in 2024. This avoids an unsupported claim that she was the first Israeli performer to receive one.

## Shira Haas and Israeli creators

Haas received a Primetime Emmy nomination for lead actress in a limited series for *Unorthodox*. The Television Academy’s [official biography](https://www.emmys.com/bios/shira-haas) lists the nomination. She joined American studio productions, including *Captain America: Brave New World*, as [Times of Israel coverage](https://www.timesofisrael.com/shira-haas-set-to-join-next-captain-america-film-as-israeli-heroine/) reported.

Israeli creators also adapted series for US television: Hagai Levi created *BeTipul*, and Gideon Raff created *Hatufim*, the source series for *Homeland*. Those format histories appear in [the page on Israeli TV exports](https://hasbara.co.il/resources/israeli-cinema-and-television-international-recognition/how-hollywood-adapts-acclaimed-israeli-television-formats). The [Golden Globes profile of Israelis](https://goldenglobes.com/articles/israelis-at-the-golden-globes/) documents earlier generations of Israeli performers and filmmakers recognized in US entertainment.
