# Two Projectiles Strike Qeshm Island as Tehran Denies Iodine Distribution Near Nuclear Sites

*On November 6, 2026, two projectiles struck Qeshm Island in southern Iran, while Tehran rejected reports that it had distributed iodine tablets near nuclear facilities. Meanwhile, Qatar denied that negotiations between Washington and the regime had collapsed, and the United States sanctioned Canadian currency exchanges tied to illicit financing for Tehran.*

## Projectiles Strike Qeshm Island in Southern Iran

Two projectiles struck Qeshm Island in southern Iran on Friday, November 6, 2026, according to official and semi-official media reports from inside the country. The regime's semi-official Tasnim news agency stated late on Friday that two missiles had impacted Qeshm Island, noting that there was no official information regarding damage. Tasnim reported that additional details regarding the strike would be made public once confirmed by relevant authorities.

Earlier on Friday, the regime's state news agency IRNA reported that local witnesses heard the sound of an aircraft operating over Qeshm Island before two projectiles struck the Suza area in the southern portion of the island.

## Tehran Denies Distributing Iodine Tablets Near Nuclear Facilities

Hossein Kermanpour, head of the public relations and information centre for the regime's health ministry, rejected the claim in a statement published on the social media platform X. "No Ministry of Health official has spoken to The Times, and the quote attributed to the ministry is false," Kermanpour wrote.

The denial followed a report published by The Times of London citing an unnamed health ministry official who claimed that the regime was handing out iodine tablets to civilian communities located within two to three kilometres of its nuclear installations. The Times quoted the anonymous official as saying, "Trump can no longer be trusted. He may go through with this crime," while stating that during every war, authorities had attempted to distribute tablets to protect the thyroid gland from radiation within close range of nuclear sites.

Responding to the report, Kermanpour stated that the health system remained prepared for various operational scenarios and external threats originating from "an enemy that does not even spare children." However, Kermanpour clarified that declaring a formal state of war did not fall within the authority of the health ministry, and he condemned the dissemination of unverified reports during wartime as "irresponsible."

## Qatar Denies Stalled Talks Between Washington and Tehran

The State of Qatar formally refuted reports claiming that its leadership had declared the failure of negotiations between the United States and the regime to end the war, designating such narratives as "false and misleading."

In an official statement released on Friday, Qatar's International Media Office addressed public assertions regarding Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The office stated that the remarks made by Prime Minister Al Thani had been "deliberately distorted by those who benefit from continued war and instability in our region." The International Media Office emphasized that Prime Minister Al Thani confirmed that both Washington and the regime were continuing to work toward reaching an agreement.

## United States Sanctions Canadian Currency Exchanges Aiding the Regime

The Treasury Department stated that the targeted entities operated as money services businesses across British Columbia and Ontario. The measures were executed in close coordination with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada, the country's national anti-money laundering watchdog.

Federal officials revealed that several of the designated exchange companies also conducted financial transactions with Ryan Wedding, an alleged narcotics kingpin and former Canadian Olympic snowboarder who was arrested in January. According to allegations presented by the Treasury Department, Wedding utilized several of these money services businesses to launder millions of dollars in illicit drug proceeds through the transfer of digital assets prior to his arrest.

The Treasury Department explicitly identified multiple corporate entities subject to the new sanctions, including Million Exchange, NIA Nations Currency, Farah Exchange, Darvish Exchange, and several numbered corporate entities registered in Ontario and British Columbia. In an official news release regarding the designations, United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that Canada "cannot be a safe haven" for illicit sanctions evasion and the financing of the regime in Tehran.
